Inspiring new Velocity residence mural sparks more than just conversation
As some of you may have noticed, the main entrance to the Velocity Residence, also known as the Minota Hagey residence, seems a lot brighter these days. That’s because local artist Shayne Laity has been working on nothing short of an extravagant and inspiring wall-to-wall mural.
The mural was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of the Velocity residence community and aims to serve not only as a beautiful piece of art to lift your spirits, but also as a inspiration for ideas and startups yet to come. Here are some photos.
The Velocity residence is a great place to live for people who are interested in entrepreneurship, and who would like to be around like-minded people. At the start of each term we run a residence bootcamp in the evenings to help students meet each other, and start thinking about how to create a business. And then throughout the term we invite residents to catered dinners with high-profile guest speakers, and encourage the community to start working together to solve a problem they’ve identified.
Students in the residence are not limited to those who have a startup or even an idea for a startup. They only need to be keen to learn and have a desire to make an impact. We encourage students from any academic background to live in this awesome community, because starting a startup requires a team with a diversity of skills to draw on. Be sure to stop by the residence and have a look at the new surroundings and if you’re interested, fill out an application to live in the Velocity residence during the spring 2016 term. We will be opening applications for the fall 2016 term at the start of the winter term.
