For the majority of our events, free pizza is served (at 7:15pm for evening events), and registering for the event ensures you get a slice. We can’t wait to see you at an event this term!


Speaking Startup with Cloud Rabbit Designs

Join us to hear what it’s like to run Cloud Rabbit Designs from Owner & Designer Claire O’Brien!

Claire creates and sews unique, quality products that are practical, affordable, beautiful and vegan friendly using her favourite designer fabrics, faux leathers, and canvas. Claire is self-taught, learning everything she knows from YouTube videos, photos, advice from other makers and a LOT of trial and error.

Registering for this event not only enters you into a draw to win your own custom tote bag from Cloud Rabbit Designs, but also guarantees you free pizza! Please note the afternoon time.

Ain’t No Model Like a Business Model

Velocity Startup Coach, Phil Everson will take you through the ins and outs of business models, specifically the lean canvas. Join us and walk away with the tools to create your own rockin’ business model!

Nada Basir, Assistant Professor at the Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre will show you how to build your own scalable business that solves a real problem! Learn how to build a social enterprise that creates both economic (make some money) and social impact (do something good for society).

Do People Want Your Sh*t?

Software Lead at Velocity, Wes Worsfold, will lead you through topics related to market validation. By the end of the night you’ll be an expert yourself in interacting with the right people, and asking the right questions to determine whether your idea could be a viable business. You’ll also appreciate the value of getting honest feedback. Don’t miss out on this event!

Velocity Garage Grand Opening

Join Velocity in celebrating the official Grand Opening of the Velocity Garage; the largest free startup incubator in the world. You’re invited to visit the recently renovated 37,000 sq. ft. space in downtown Kitchener, complete with a new science lab, workshop, assembly space, and workspace for up to 120 software, hardware, science, and social entrepreneurship startups.

All are welcome to attend. Refreshments and guided tours of the space will be available, alongside remarks from Feridun Hamdullahpur; President & Vice-Chancellor, University of Waterloo, Jay Shah; Director of Velocity, Berry Vrbanovic; Mayor, City of Kitchener, and Daiene Vernile; MPP, Kitchener-Centre.

Join us to learn the ins and outs of using online platforms to find potential customers! We’ll cover strategies, tactics, and programs that you can use to to conduct online market research and get your business in front of the right people.

Pitch Like a Pro

Perfect your pitch with Ron Glozman, Founder of Knote. You’ll learn about the different components of a pitch, and then have the chance to practice informally with your peers. What a great way to test your skills and to share your ideas!

Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers

Pitch your startup idea to qualify for a chance to win $5K, or come watch! Early stage ideas are welcome. The winning teams will be invited to pitch at the Velocity Fund Finals on December 1, for a chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes.

Audience registration will open soon and as always, pizza will be served prior to the start of the event. Signups to pitch at the Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers open on October 31.
