These events are a great way to meet new people, build skills, and learn about entrepreneurship, and most events include free pizza, so registering before the event ensures you get a slice. What’s your problem?

Join us for the “What’s Your Problem?” talk with the legendary Larry Smith, Economics Professor at UW! Larry will share his insightful take on how to find and solve “killer” problems. Trust us, this is a talk you do NOT want to miss!

DO PEOPLE WANT YOUR SH*T?

You have a business idea, but do people want your sh*t? Find out at this workshop as you are led through topics related to market validation. By the end of the night you’ll be an expert yourself in interacting with the right people, and asking the right questions to determine whether your idea could be a viable business. You’ll also appreciate the value of getting honest feedback.

HOW TO FIND YOUR CUSTOMERS ONLINE

Join us to learn the ins and outs of using online platforms with IM@Events Founder, Jane Barkley, to find potential customers! We’ll cover strategies, tactics, and programs that you can use to to conduct online market research and get your business in front of the right people.

World’s Challenge Challenge uwaterloo

Do you have a solution to a major global problem? The World’s Challenge Challenge is a competition where teams of three diverse students pick a major global issue and propose a solution. Select applicants will be interviewed for a chance to present their solution to a panel of judges at the University of Waterloo. 

Apply for a chance to win $1,000 towards an international travel experience, and the opportunity to compete at the international level for $45,000 in prizes.

When: Thursday, March 2

PITCH LIKE A PRO

How do you get people interested in your ideas? In this workshop, you’ll learn about the different components of a pitch, and will then have the chance to practice informally with your peers. What a great way to test your skills and to share your ideas in a low pressure environment!

VELOCITY FUND $5K QUALIFIERS

Pitch your startup idea to qualify for a chance to win $5K, or come watch! Early stage ideas are welcome. The winning teams will be invited to pitch at the Velocity Fund Finals on March 30, for a chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes.

Audience registration will open soon, and as always, pizza will be served prior to the start of the event. Signups to pitch at the Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers open on February 27.

THE STARTUP ROLLERCOASTER
