Velocity is hiring a Programs Coordinator
The search has begun for a Programs Coordinator at Velocity, Canada’s leading entrepreneurship program, based out of the University of Waterloo. We are looking for someone who is a natural community builder, has a high level of attention to detail, and experience running events. Is that you?
The Programs Coordinator will report to the Programs Manager and play a crucial role in the support of five Velocity programs, both on and off campus at the University of Waterloo. Our on-campus programs include Velocity Start, a place for students to discover entrepreneurship through weekly workshops and startup coaching; the Velocity Residence, a dorm for student entrepreneurs; Velocity Science, an on-campus lab and community for science startups; and the Velocity Fund, a startup pitch competition that awards $375,000 in grants per year. Our flagship program is the Velocity Garage, a 37,000 sq. ft. startup incubator that is home to 80+ startups located in the heart of downtown Kitchener.
The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about student entrepreneurship and technology and has experience planning, coordinating, and hosting events. The Velocity Programs team oversees 60+ events each year, many of which are geared towards students, so we are looking for someone who can efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines at once and remain organized. The successful candidate will also be self-motivated, yet a team player, and possess a positive attitude with a desire to succeed. Tasks include, but are not limited to, logistics planning, space bookings, executing events, reviewing feedback, workspace access requests, and other administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications for this role include a university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Asana, Eventbrite and Salesforce is an asset, as well as access to a vehicle. Due to the nature of this role, regular evening and occasional weekend work is required.
To apply for this position, please submit a cover letter and resume via the UWaterloo job posting. We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
