Are you interested in entrepreneurship but don’t know where to start? Velocity events are the perfect icebreaker. Each term, we host events and workshops to help you learn business skills and maybe even start building your own startup.

Meet other like-minded people, and learn from people with hands-on experience. From workshops to pitch competitions, our events are never a dull moment (and almost always include free pizza). What’s Your Problem?

A talk by legendary Economics Professor, Larry Smith. He will share his insightful take on how to find and solve “killer” problems. Trust us, this is a talk you do not want to miss.

Velocity Startup Coach, Phil Everson, will take you through the ins and outs of business models, specifically the lean canvas. Join us and walk away with the tools to create your own rockin’ business model!

Find out all about market validation at this workshop. By the end of the night, you’ll be an expert in interacting with the right people and asking the right questions to determine whether your idea could be a viable business.

Problem Pitch Competition

Join the audience to watch students pitch important industry problems they have identified. You’ll even get to have your say, with the audience deciding which team wins the People’s Choice Award!

How to Find Your Customers Online

Join us to learn the ins and outs of using online platforms to find potential customers! We’ll cover strategies, tactics, and programs that you can use to conduct online market research and get your business in front of the right people.

World’s Challenge Challenge

Do you have a solution to a major global problem? Teams of three students are invited to choose one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and propose a solution. The winner of this competition will move on to compete against other schools at the International World’s Challenge Challenge this June, held at Western University in London, Ontario.

Pitch to Win

Led by Wes Worsfold, Velocity Business Advisor, discover the components of a great pitch and have the chance to practice informally with your peers. A great way to test your skills and to share your ideas in a low-pressure environment.

Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers

Pitch your startup idea to qualify for a chance to win $5K, or come watch. Early stage ideas are welcome. The winning teams will be invited to pitch at the Velocity Fund Finals on March 28, for a chance to win one of three $5,000 prizes.

Applications to pitch at the Velocity Fund $5K Qualifiers will open February 12, and audience registration will open closer to the event date. Applications for the separate Velocity Fund $25K competition will also open February 12.

The Startup Rollercoaster

A panel of guest speakers for an AMA geared towards learning from common and frequent mistakes made during the startup journey. These people have been there and done that, and are here to tell you all about it.

Velocity Fund Finals

The most action-packed, and thrilling day of the term – the Velocity Fund Finals. Watch 20 startups pitch for glory and $125K in funding. Learn more about the Velocity Fund, and the application deadlines here. Audience registration will open in February. Watch past pitches.
