Catching up with Velocity Fund $25K winner, HITCH
|HITCH allows students and teachers to advance beyond their current educational resources and immerse in world-class educational videos with the help of machine learning and custom-designed hardware.|
Q: How has your company developed since winning VFF?
Brad Moon (BM): Since VFF, we have focused on building more units and deploying them to even more schools. We are aiming for a total of 50 schools by the end of the year. We have also been accepted into the HAX Accelerator in Shenzhen! Our team is now operating in 3 countries across 3 continents.
Q: What is your company currently working on?
BM: At HAX, our company is currently working on a scalable and improved version of our hardware. In Nigeria, we are focused on sales and reaching our goal of 50 schools. We are also concentrating on securing content partnerships with educational video producers, so we can provide even more content on our platform.
Q: What do you enjoy most about building a startup?
BM: The impact. HITCH has already begun to positively impact hundreds of student and teachers in Africa. It has the potential to impact millions. Getting to work on a startup with such an inspiring mission has been remarkably rewarding.
Q: What did you like most about competing at VFF?
BM: VFF is one of many opportunities to gain access to the fantastic support system within Velocity. I always enjoy working with the mentors and other teams within the ecosystem. It’s a great chance to work alongside friendly and like-minded people who are genuinely interested in helping you.
Q: Are there any tips you can give to startups that are pitching?
BM: Dream big but don’t be afraid to be transparent about your current progress. Although it may seem inconsequential, the first steps on your journey are essential. Be proud of your achievements, portray them as the fuel that will drive your team towards future successes.
