Velocity is hiring a Marketing & Programs Coordinator!

Velocity is hiring a full-time Marketing & Programs Coordinator for the Velocity Garage. You will be working in downtown Kitchener and supporting some of the best startups across the Toronto-Waterloo tech corridor and Canada.

It means Briton and Joe are looking for an amazing person to be THE face of Velocity online and in the Garage! This is a great opportunity to peek behind the scenes of Canada’s most productive startup incubator.

What will you be doing?

The Marketing and Programs Coordinator is accountable to the Community Manager and Marketing Manager. You will be working various community, alumni, and entrepreneurial initiatives within Velocity through marketing, coordination and delivery of special events, and startup engagement.

The Marketing and Programs Coordinator maintains the overall community presence of Velocity in the Garage, with a specific focus on shaping ongoing communications and program delivery. This involves monitoring and measuring the online presence of the Velocity brand, assisting with the overall organization, and planning and execution of programs and events.

What should you have done?

Experience

  • 2 years of experience within marketing and/or programs role
  • Experience or previous exposure to a startup and/or entrepreneurial environment is an asset
  • Experience interacting with the public
  • Experience writing content for a public audience (e.g. blogging and print publications)
  • Experience planning and executing events
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent editing skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
  • Proficient using social media networks and tools to build a community (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat & YouTube)
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, HootSuite, Salesforce, Eventbrite & Adobe Suite
  • Proficient in G Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Knowledge of Asana is an asset
