ICYMI: On March 27, Velocity hosted the Velocity Fund Finals (VFF) $25K pitch competition for early-stage, investment-ready startups! Warriors! See what you missed! Quick #throwbackthursday

A large number of startups across the Toronto-Waterloo Innovation Corridor applied and interviewed to be a part of the competition. We selected 9 finalists to compete at the VFF $25K.

At the competition, Jay Shah, Velocity’s Director, announced that the 9 finalists would be competing for a direct equity investment of $50,000. 💰💰💰💰💰


“For the first time in VFF’s seven-year history, we’ll make investments in today’s four winners—not grants,” said Jay Shah.

1. ClearVoxel: Yann Gagnon, Co-founder & CEO, pitched for ClearVoxel.

The startup is creating solutions that enable radiologists to leverage AI and diagnose patients more quickly and accurately.

2. Stabilo: Aaron Rosenblum, Co-founder, pitched for Stabilo.

7. SiteVue: Anthony Coelho, CEO, pitched for SiteVue.

Stride

Stride is a mobile app that helps rehabilitation specialists deliver better care to their patients by helping them collect insightful patient data in less time, with more accuracy, and in a more cost-effective way with the help of machine learning. Check out their pitch here.

After careful deliberation and debate, the judges selected the 4 winning startups that would each receive a $50,000 investment.

ClearVoxel… 

With the VFF investment, ClearVoxel will be able to accelerate their product validation in the field of mammography and breast cancer screening—where over 245 cases of breast cancer are missed on a daily basis.

Glove Systems… 😀

Glove Systems will use the VFF investment to further grow its sales effort.

SiteVue… 🚧👷

SiteVue will use the investment from VFF to accelerate the company’s project roadmap and to unlock further sales.

and Tugolo! 🚢🌎

Tugolo will use the investment from VFF  to execute the next phase of its customer acquisition strategy.
