Re:me started as Yevgeny Chertov and Michelle Au Yeung‘s project in the VeloCity Residence. They’re two University of Waterloo students that are trying to redefine messaging with their Android app.

Every day, people all around the world get a ton of text messages. Some people are good at managing this, but others are not – the very important messages they receive from spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends or parents get forgotten. The problem is the way text messaging is currently organized. People don’t care if a message has been read or not – what they actually care about is what they need to do with that message.

Re:me creates a task list of messages you haven’t responded to yet. Once you do respond to the message, it gets cleared off your list. This shift in perspective from unread to unreplied ensures that you’ll never forget to respond to a text message, ever again.
