#UWDemoDay = a success!
We had an extremely successful Demo Day! Tons of people came out and everyone got the chance to see 22 startups demo, giving them an inside look into what’s happening at VeloCity.
Some highlights include:
Bookneto‘s cotton candy machine (celebrating E & Bookneto’s birthday),
Our awesome swag table,
And #uwDemoDay trending on Twitter in Canada!
And there were more than just demos – we awarded a few startups for all of their hard work & dedication.
After some intense deliberation from our judges, Amanie Ismail, cofounder of StoreMob and ProductWiki, Cameron Hay, Executive in Residence at Communitech, and Sean Van Koughnett, Director of the Student Success Office at the University of Waterloo and founder of VeloCity, two teams were chosen to win $1,000 to help fund their startups.
And after tallying a whole lot of tweets, we awarded the $1,000 People’s Choice to BufferBox, a startup that eliminates the problem of failed parcel delivery. They did a fantastic job showcasing their stuff and the people responded!
We also gave away 2 Blue Beats by Dr. Dre headphones to the 100th tweeter @UWVeloCity using #uwDemoDay! After counting some more tweets, we gave headphones to Khallil and his favourite startup, Crouton Labs.
We had an awesome time and are very excited about all of the innovation coming out of VeloCity – thanks to everyone who came out!
